Dogs play special roles in my own family’s history and memories, so I understand the importance of capturing their true essence. These unique portraits celebrate our dogs while they’re with us, and remind us of their unconditional companionship, loyalty, and the happiness they provided long after they’re gone. I take the utmost pride in creating a work of art that reflects your memories and the unique role your dog has played in your life.
My wife, Alix, and I always enjoy talking about art and happy to answer any questions about the process. The first question is usually, “how much will the portrait cost?” We’ve provided the following pricing guide to answer just that.
For one-two dogs head/body:
9” x 12” - $300
12” x 16” - $700
16” x 20” - $1000
24” x 30” - $1500
For one-two dogs head/body:
6” x 12” - $500
12” x 16” - $1000
16” x 20” - $2000
24” x 30” - $3000
The graphite drawings are drawn on 140 lb acid free hot press paper, and the paintings are painted on Belgian Oil Primed Linen. Every commission is created exclusively with archival, museum-quality materials. This is just one distinction that sets my work apart from others.
Three or more dogs? Contact us. We’ll discuss the details and come up with a concept and composition that captures your vision, and provide you a quote within 24 hours.
How Our Commission and Payment Process Works
After our initial consultation the client sends 2 -3 detailed pictures to firstname.lastname@example.org. We’ll provide photography tips for the best lighting, angles, and composition to capture your dog’s personality. If your dog is no longer with you, we'll embellish your photos in Photoshop in order to provide the best portrait.
A 50% deposit is required to begin work on your portrait. We receive payments via Stripe, or through PayPal.
When the photos and deposit are received a composition study will be created in two weeks for approval before moving forward. Because communication is key during the creative process, you’ll receive regular email updates, and can follow the process through our blog. Portraits are in process continually, so if there’s a specific date that you need it by, we can discuss during our consultation.
When the commission is completed, a watermarked scan of the final piece is sent to you. Once approved and the 50% balance is paid, it will be shipped.
Our shipping prices include the use of the same materials, standards, and care that’s used to pack and ship priceless artwork in major museums across the world.
Flat rate of $50.00 for any commission at 16” x 20” and under
Flat rate of $75.00 for a painting or drawing up to 22” x 28”
Larger sizes are quoted upfront before the deposit is made. Artwork is shipped by UPS ground or FedEx courier.
We also offer larger custom sizes that are not listed on the pet portraits pricing guide pricing guide. These commissioned custom sizes would be discussed in our consultation. Additional charges are added for multiple dogs, full bodies, and any additional customizing. We’ll discuss the details during your initial consultation.
“Working with Joe was awesome from beginning to end! He was extremely professional and was very committed to creating the perfect painting for my Dad. He also worked overtime to complete the painting before my Dad’s birthday. My Dad loves the painting, and it is a perfect rendering of his dog. Joe delivered the painting beautifully wrapped, and he included a thank you card to us that was such a nice gesture! I would definitely use Joe again!” --Amanda R.
